Elopement vs. Adventure Session 5 Key Differences

Eryri Adventure Session

If you love the idea of breathtaking landscapes and an intimate, meaningful celebration, you might be considering an elopement or an adventure session. But what’s the difference between the two?

Let’s break it down:

  1. An adventure elopement is intended for those getting married, having a symbolic intimate ceremony and/or wanting the full experience you would receive when having a full elopement, including extensive planning assistance, calls and meet up’s and all the storytelling aspects of your day. So cover can be anything from 2 hours to document your ceremony and portraits after, or longer cover to include the getting ready and into the evening!

In contrast, an adventure session is a couple’s photoshoot—there’s no ceremony, just stunning locations and a chance to celebrate your love in a unique way, it is mainly portrait-focused and the images can be used for things like an engagement session, couples session or for any reason really. A ‘just because’. Adventure sessions require less planning, and can last from 2 hours to a full day depending on what and where!

2. What about guests? Elopements typically have very few (if any) guests, keeping the focus on the couple. Adventure sessions, however, are usually just the two of you and your photographer, creating a relaxed and personal experience.

3. Is Travel Included? For all UK elopements, my travel is included. In unique cases—such as overseas locations—there may be additional costs. For adventure sessions, I factor my travel into location planning, so you can choose locations based on what resonates with you rather than worrying about additional mileage fees.

4. What to wear? Elopement couples often wear wedding attire, even if it’s a more casual take on tradition. For adventure sessions, comfort and movement are key; think flowing dresses, cosy layers, and even hiking boots if needed!

5. Do you work with everyone? I don’t take on everyone who enquires. I only work with couples who are intentional about their adventure. My best work and your best selves happen when we’re connected and present in the environment around us. I have turned away couples when it is clear we are not aligned or I am not the best ‘fit’ for you and your vision.

“I want my couples to view booking me as an experience, not just a transaction, this is about creating wonderful memories as well as documenting them”.

Let’s chat! If this sounds like the kind of experience you're dreaming of, let’s connect and start planning your unforgettable adventure!.
